Cellular companies typically offer two types of packages. The first is the prepaid package, where the user has to load credit on to his SIM before using it to make calls, send texts and other services. The second is the postpaid option where the user pays the bill at the end of the month, after he has availed cellular services.

Typically the latter option comes with a contract package where subscribers have to commit to a specific time period of using the cellular company’s services. This agreement comes with a handset that is bundled with a call rate package. Since the handset is not charged for separately, the company requires a contract agreement for a particular period that also pays off the cost of the handset.

Real People Cellular in South Africa also offers similar packages with the usual contract period for 24 months. The bill needs to be paid at the end of every month, however if a subscriber has used airtime up to their monthly limit, prepaid cash cards can be used to top-up the balance after which the user can enjoy the same package as is included in his monthly package.
